I have the newer type roof ac up front and older one in rear.
While on roof i noticed that the new type cover is flimsy, while the older original one will hold my weight to sit on.
Made me wonder if I had another cover for the older type would it fit inplace of the newer one?
(who said there are no dumb questions?)

Yep sounds like a dumb question to me..lol
Like everything else.. companys try to find ways to cut cost.
And most likely without a whole lot of work will not fit.
I need a new cover for mine also thought i would check out the Maxair cover. looks tougher.

Think it would depend on the make and model. IIRC there is one make that the new covers fit on the old A/C's. I would expect it to work the other way. I just have no idea of the make/model that "works."
Maybe someone could make new "heavy duty" AC covers.

Matt
you may be correct, but yet my real ac which I assume is original , its outer cover is fiberglass, appears to be approx a quarter inch thick. I did not jusp up and donw on it, but with sitting it did not flex at all.
While sitting on it I did think that would have been a good place to sit and enjoy the lake, or maybe the track. My newer unit up front , its cover is plastic and very flimsy
