G’day,
KenH and I drove up to this museum on one of our visits with Elaine and him. It was well and truly worth the trip.
If you haven’t seen this museum you’ve only got a couple of weeks to do so!

Too bad. I guess I had to work that day. I remember when you went. I hope I can get there before it closes.

Man! I sure hate to hear that he's closing the museum! Nothing like it
anywhere else that I've heard of.

They had a national Microcars meet up here in Crystal Lake, IL a couple years back, and it's something that has to been seen in person! The size, shapes, and inventiveness that went into these vehicles leaves one speechless.
Any of them would make an excellent Toad! Someone had an original Mini at Amana last year, and most of these cars make it look like an SUV in comparison.

I would thing something like a micro-car would have to be towed on a trailer. Most were little more than scooters with a cab. Don't think they would be happy running 65MPH and greater. It would look like Mom dragging a toddler.

Roger,
Here's a link to the Corbin Sparrow:
http://www.corbinsparrow.com/
The building in the background is Corbin Motorcycle Seats which was a company run by Mike Corbin, Tom's father.
The Elio may fair better as it is a gasoline powered vehicle.

Speaking of microcars, here's a new one that supposedly will be built
in the ole GM plant in Shreveport, LA. And, if they hold, the price
would be right for anyone.

Elio looks cute. Add tandem seating, and it is a modern Messerschmitt. IN the mid 70's, I had a Messerschmitt King Kong model (big engine, 4 wheels) pass me on the German Autobahn like I was parked. I remember them well.

Earlier today I send to everyone I could think of within reasonable
distance a warning that the Microcar Museum will soon be closing. But I
didn't realize then that the end was so near: Tomorrow, 2 Feb, from 10 AM
to 4 PM is the last public opening. I'd hoped to get my son and his two
sons there; they may not be able to make tomorrow. :-(
