Looking for tires for the Spectrum. Gladiators are about $80 less than Kumhos and less than half the price of Goodyears. What's your experience with these tires? I don't really want opinions or experiences with any other manufacturer.

HI John,
I know that you "don't really want opinions or experiences with any other manufacturer" but...hey...I'm gonna give it to you anyway...Wink

I bought a set of 6 Hercules Ironman tires for my coach. (Hercules...Gladiator?? Hummm...) The price was considerably less than any other brand available, and they are actually made in the US. I had trouble with all but one of the six tires. I had a combination of wear, out of balance, out of round and tread seperation issues. And when I was away from the upper midwest where they are marketed, I could not find a dealer that would adjust them, When I did find one, it would have cost me more in fuel to get to the dealer than what the tire was worth. Finally said F&*K IT" Bought a well known brand name. So far so good. JMHO

John,
Here's a truck tire rating site. They put Gladiators well down the list.
Glenn

Sorry John, here's what you need: http://www.herculestire.com/news/MTDstory_11_19_10.pdf

Thanks guys, I don't want to buy a problem that's for sure. Seems like the manufacturers are protecting the dealers territories. The only BFG dealer in my area is Discount and they don't even stock them. I think that on the road finding a dealer for specific size and brand would be a crap shoot.

Glen can you edit your post to include the link for the truck tire rating site?

My guy offered them as a cheaper alternative to the Coopers I ended up with but noted that, dues to his past experience with them he would offer no warranty.  Once the wheels left his shop, I would be on my own.  Also, he said he had to take what they sent, and though they would be new, the build date would be whatever was on them.  (He selected the Coopers less than 6 weeks old at the warehouse)  Since I've dealt with him and his Dad for 25 years, I took his advice.
