Driving north from Florida on a very clear and bright day, I was annoyed by a bright reflection right in the center of my windshield. I finally tracked it down to sunlight reflecting off the chrome shift lever.

Solution:

Patent applied for. Units will be available for sale shortly. Anticipated market price... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Seriously, it worked great...no more reflection in my view

Great idea. If I use one of those odor-eater socks I can remove the little pine tree I have hanging on the mirror.

I wondered why the PO had wrapped the shift lever in black tape... he was generally pretty meticulous about updates and modifications, and it seemed kind of out of character. Now I can picture him driving around California squinting, then breaking out the roll of tape at the RV park...

Maybe if I ever take the steering column apart I'll actually paint it... (though I wonder if it's easier to just take off the knob and slide a piece of heat-shrink tubing over the shaft).

I keep a paper towel tube on mine when parked to remind me to check hatches, hoses, tires, etc before departing. i also use it to block the glare as I only have 2 socks.

Had to break the black sock out yesterday. Dang sun was in just the right place to cause that glare. If I ever pull the steering column, I think I'll spray the shift lever and ignition chrome with spray on bedliner...or just keep using a sock Laughing

Remove shift knob. Slide a piece of black (or your choice of colors) heat shrink tubing over shift lever and gently apply heat. Covered forever. Slice off with razor knife when you no longer need it. Very cheap and fast.

Now I know what to do with all the one sock missing in a pair the dryer eats. I'll sell my socks on ebay as gear shift covers.
