The 19,000 lbs was the GMC, trailer, and the 4,000 lbs Van/car in the trailer. The 403 is stock with nothing done fore extra cooling. The key item is the 3.70 final drive from Jim. As everyone knows. Towing affects mileage. I have a log book that I put all data in. When I put the 3.70 final drive in. The mileage improved some, trans and engine ran cooler. it ran a higher vacuum. That is what the data said. ( We live in Iowa. So the Midwest is were most of the data is from.) The mileage wasn't just my opinion. When using the tow bar or dolly. I couldn't fined any differences in mileage ever. When pulling around 19,000. That becomes, how many hills I have to climb. Mostly 6 to 7. Heading West out of Denver and up to 11,000 feet. Didn't even want to think about mileage. 2 maybe. As far as the width of the towed cars and turning. Some dollies have a platform that turns on the base of the dolly. It sounds like most have had that type. Others have just the wheels that turn, simil
ar to the steering on your car. This type will have a longer tire life. Go on line to confirm the widths that can be carried. Can't beat DATA. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royal 4 Yenkos4 GM convertables

I have several people that are running our 4.10 ratio with great results
pulling 4,000 lbs. and driving 55-60mph.
They are claiming 9 mpg with the load.
