Hi,
A few weeks ago I saw a discussion about oil filters for Olds 455 engines. It seemed that the general consensus was that WIX was the way to go. K&N Filters are a high quality alternative you might want to consider.
K&N (Racing) Filters used to be a sponsor of some of the motorcycle races I attended and I tried their oil filters on my motorcycles. I have used the oil filters on my motorcycles, my Dodge Truck and my Subaru WRX (turbo). They are very high quality, work very well in high heat engines, and - the best thing in my mind - they have a wrench off design that allows one to put a socket on the end to remove the filter.
I am now going to use the K&N HP-2003 size filter for my 1973 GMC with a 455 engine and expect to have very good luck with it. The filters aren't cheap but if you run synthetic oil (as I do), you will probably find the oil filters worth it (especially the wrench off design).

I hope you find this information useful =)
