HI all,

I'd love to put my coach to use this year, but she needs some work, or
at least some very thorough inspecting, before I'll feel safe about
packing up my wife and pets and hitting the road.

I can turn a wrench with good instructions, or preferable proper
supervision, but what I don't have is the time I need to do all of
this stuff myself.

I'm in Deming NM. I've dealt with a local mechanic in Deming once, and
while they did OK work, it took them months (literally) to get the job
done, so I don't think I'll be going back to them if I can avoid it.

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the Deming/Las Cruces/El Paso
area, preferably someone with some expertise (or at least some
experience) with GMCs?

My immediate concern is front-end suspension and steering work, and brakes.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try contacting Hal Kading in Las Cruces. IIRC he owns a Air Charter service out of the Las Cruces Airport. A very knowledgeable individual about the LC area. I don't have his contact info with me but I'm pretty sure he is in the GMCMI Membership roster.

Just found him on the black list - definitely looks like the person I
should speak to. Thanks for the tip!

Not that know anything, but I have just arrived in LC and would like to
meet you while I'm here. I'd be free sometime next week if you are
interested in a GMC show and tell?
I'd leave you my phone number but I don't know it yet..<g>

Las Crusas --- we'll be spending tonight there as we head west to CA.
Last winter we encountered a blizzard as we passed through here. They
closed I-10 behind us. Much nicer today.

I concurr -- Hal should be able to help you out.

I'm actually in Deming, about 45 miles west of LC. I work Monday
through Friday, but if you'd like to meet on a weekend (in LC or here
in Deming), let me know and we'll work out the details. If you want to
see my coach, it will have to be at my place, not putting her on the
road :)

Same thing happened last week - I-10 was shut down between LC and
Deming due to ice and snow. Crazy!
