Yes, I had missed your indicating that it was the kickdown switch.
However, I was certain from your description of the problem that it was not the governor.
Everyone seemed to be focused on the governor as the problem but I couldn't see how the governor could cause your particular problem.
Glad to see that you got it corrected.

Heh Heh. It appears that Emery ignored my comment. It was the kickdown switch. I reconnected it and will check it in the morning.
The modulator didn't appear to have any leaks. At least with the suck and blow on the hose test...
The Modulator hose was the first thing I looked at since I had been dicking around on the manifold replacing the upper radiator hose neck because the damn thing started leaking for the THIRD time. The new intake has been another pain in my ass...
Just a comment, since some folks use the mail list, they may not see the responses in real time. Only one way to fix that...

It seems that everyone has ignored my comment that it might be the vacuum modulator on the right side of the transmission or even possibly the vacuum line going to it detached or leaking.
Everyone elseems convinced that it is the governor.
I believe that Chris said that it would not shift out of first gear. If so then I would suggest that he check the modulator before tearing into the governor.
