I think the GMCforum is broken!

It's been over 3 years since I posted regularly to the GMCnet. However, I
sometimes lurk at the GMCforum to see if anything new is happening in the
GMC motorhome world.

I also sometimes use the search feature in the GMCforum to do research
prior to starting new projects in my GMC.

Today I tried to look up something in the GMCforum that I had written about
a few years ago. That's when I discovered that I no longer exist in the
GMCforum version of the GMClist. The last time I looked myself up in the
forum, I had about 350 posts and was a senior member. Now I am at 2
(counting this) and back to junior status.

I am still listed in the archives at:

http://temp.gmcnet.org/pipermail/gmclist/

This was my last post in 2009. This and 350 or so previous posts are
missing. I suspect I am not the only contributor that has gone missing from
the GMCforum.

Matt,

My Palm Beach has a 32-gallon black tank and a 40-gallon fresh water tank.

The X-7525 Maintenance Manual and the owner's manual list those specs. In

addition, I had an incident where I overfilled the black tank just from the

contents of the FW tank.

This is weird! Now I show more messages under "RJW" on the forum. I went
from 1 to 21, but what happened to the other 330 or so since the last time
the forum database was messed up and dumped posts.

Hey Richard, we need to dust you off a bit before allowing you to be full force again. Keep coming back and before you know it all will be as it should be.
Good to see you. Very Happy

Yes there are messages going back that far. However, there used to be over 350 messages for my RJW log in. Now there are only 22 or so. I wonder what happened to the other 330? They were there as recently as last month.

This is probably the first time that I have ever posted via the forum. In the past I always used the email version of the list to post. We shall see if I have done it correctly.

This post showed up fine in my email, if that's what you mean.

That part I cant tell you about. I do see that your total is now 23. I do know a few years ago Eugene cleaned out some messages to conserve storage space. May he did it again.

I'm not too worried that most of my posts have vanished since nothing much new was said.

However, I am concerned that there might be a considerable amount of other folks posts, with stuff worth remembering, that could be missing. I do search the content for info on my GMC projects.

I think everything is still there, but the search function is broken. Only seems to find stuff that was posted after the last emai/forum disconnect.

Yes, with the recent problem with the GMCforum website, I had to do some house cleaning. Older messages were purged and the search index was cleaned out. I was way over the disk quota for the site.

Thanks Eugene for your many years of great service and support.

Without the forum I and many other would be former users of GMCnet. I tried email and could not stand having to wade through all of the emails it generated. I ended up just throwing most of them away. I belong to 4 different forums on different subjects and this one so by far the easiest one to use.

I should note that Eugene has provided this service for us and has never taken a single dime from any user.

Thanks again Eugene

Yes Eugene. Thanks for all that you do. Seems like a long time since you showed up at Rayne for the Spring 07 Convention. Remember, that is the one that Ken Burton came on "may pops". Slick as a whistle. He parked near me and I just knew we would hear one of those tires popping during the night. Would sure be nice to see you again. Come when you can.

Why do you continue to propagate that false story? I know you are just trying to get a rise out of me. My real problems at Rayne were a broken radiator that I soldered back together and a blown left rear wheel cylinder that I discovered after I left.

I used those Michelins another year and then gave them to a friend who installed them on a box truck. I used that box truck a year after that to haul a 250 pound IBM machine back from Indy. I sold them that machine years before for over $200,000 and it was now obsolete. They donated it to me and it resides in my basement.

As far as I know those tires are still on that box truck. I should stop by and look for sure.

Thanks Eugene for all that you do. I love the forum mainly because it tracks the messages you have read and you can go directly to the next unread. However, that function seems not to be working for me. Because I have only seen a couple of other complaints about this, I wonder if there is something wrong with my profile causing the issue. Maybe this was answered and I didn't see it because I am missing some posts by not scrolling back.

Dan,

Did the UPS package with the lump of coal arrive yet?

UPS guaranteed delivery by Christmas which means maybe you will see it by New Years day.
