Hi everyone!
I am thinking of taking out my dinette and putting in a couch/duvet, in my 78 royal rear bath, but we have the issue of the propane tank that sits under one of the dinette benchs.....
Has anyone out there done this to their royal?
Thank You!

I have seen pictures (somewhere) of a Royale where they took the propane tank and rotated it so it was along the wall. They added fittings to the tank allowing filling the tank thought the original opening. On top of this relocated talk/enclosure, they installed a J-couch. Looked really good. For some it would be a good modification.
You could also go with a smaller tank, or get rid of it completely... just would depend on how you use your coach.

Mike,
On my rear bath Royal I moved the propane tank forward so it is now
next to the step behind the front passenger seat. In this position it
opens up the restriction that was between the rear dinette seat and
the refrigerator. This would also work with a J-couch although it
means relocating the access door which I replaced with a new/better
looking custom one. I also completely rebuilt the dinette area to get
more storage space and still have a convertible dine/bed setup.

Mike,
For the original redesign of our X-Birch, I rotated the big LPG tank to
parallel the driver's side wall, with two captain's chairs mounted
besidethe enclosure. They could recline over the box with no problem.
But, when
SHE didn't like climbing over the kitchen-consuming extended bed to get to
the bathroom, I had to change that.
The LPG enclosure is barely visible behind the seats:

The change was to install a 6 g. tank, also parallel to the wall, with the
fabricated sofa/bed resting on top of the smaller enclosure. Since we
don't have a gas furnace and seldom light the 2-burner stove, 6 g. of LPG
will last us a long time. How'd I choose 6 g? I found a brand new tank
for $100 instead of $250 in an Elkhart surplus store.
