The 110 octane leaded race fuel and avgas have way different federal requirements to meet. This can affect the life of the fuel. And the storage I have. Has to make some difference. I've been doing track events for 21 years. And I only have problems if I go over the 24 months. And as far as museum regulations. That can be a trip all it's own. A few years ago. I pulled the tanks out of my GMC to replace the hoses that go to and from the tanks. When I inspected the insides of both tanks. There was no signs of any water, rust, or contamination. The outsides were rust free except for a small spot on top of one, were some dirt had gathered. You can build a fair case on tanks full or empty. I have been down the road of letting gas in tanks go way to long. Getting something back on the road was vary simple when I had vary little gas in the tank. A friend that also has a collection of about 15 cars that are stored in a building that has no heat or A/C. He started each one every m
onth, and tries to keep the tanks full. He's been the one with rusty tanks and having to clean carbs out. About 5 years ago. He modified his approach to storage. It's great for me because I'm not having to help him with the problems anymore. The thing here is that we all have different conditions to deal with. And there are different opinions on what is best. I've had collector cars since 1967. Made mistakes, and ruined enough stuff. I seem to have found what works for me. One shirt doesn't fit everyone. You need to find a shirt that fits YOU. My humble 2 cents worth. Bob Dunahugh.
