Since I've been working on the plumbing I keep finding tools. last week I found a fairly new US made small vice grip. Today, while replacing the temp controller in the hot water heater, I happened to look between the bathroom wall and the wheel well and spotted a couple wrenches. My long magnet stick pulled them right out. Two 12" US made crescent wrenches.

Also INSIDE the hot water heater (by the heating element) was a 9/16 Thorsen socket.

Doesn't make up for all the leaks but better to find tools than find more leaks. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I found two Snap On 3/8 ratchet handles under the spare tire of a Volvo. They were quite rusty but Snap On swapped them for two nice shiny ones.

In my first GMC I found a new 38 Special snub nosed revolver, a padded case and holster and a box of shells.

It was under the drivers seat compartment and had been there a long time.

I think it was originally purchased as the final solution to the madness of owning a GMC Smile

Oh, and very few PO "improvements". However the "spare parts" that came with the coach were not "spare" but "needed but not yet installed parts".

Not a GMC but a GM... I bought a Corvair for $50 when I was 14. I found
2 $20's under the drivers side carpet when I started restoring it.

When it comes to buying a good coach, I know I stepped in and came out smelling much better than most. For starters, I just happened upon (The GMC was only one of several candidates and the oldest at that.) a coach that had been well maintained. It also had a very good set of spares onboard. Of course there were a set of belts, supplies of engine oil, transmission fluid and filters, but there was also an almost complete rear suspension system, with a two spare compressors and a rebuild kit. There were also two spare potable pumps. And, The Books with an inch plus of receipts (many of which were too aged out to read).

I have not found any "bilge tools" (things lost to unreachable spaces (unless you want to count the fork behind the galley), but I did find a Gemini build sheet for a different coach.

The most fascinating thing has got to be the copy of the DC fuse list stuck in the side of the 3" pipe between the pot and the black tank. Someone had to put it there.

When I bought my '78, I found a metric wrench (22mm ??) still on one of the bolts for a rear shock. It was inside the frame next to the rear fuel tank. I found it when I took a lot of pictures under the coach by just sticking my arm, and camera, under the coach and clicking away. I had to jack the coach and get the wrench to believe what the pictures where showing!
