We've had our GMC for 10 years. And have been a member of the club for almost the same length of time. Been to 9 rally's. Love'd every one of them. Members and officers have been so great. I've been a member of a car club for 27 years. Served on the Board, tech editor, and chaired 3 national conventions for them. Just started to visit this site recently. It was stuff like this morning that drove me out of the car club after all toughs years. I didn't go back and check on any of who said what. DO NOT CARE. If you can't be nice , and respectful to others. Then leave the rest of us OUT OF IT. Send your hate mail off line. I saw an E-mail that basically said the same thing that I'm saying. Please, let me enjoy this site. I'm vary aware that e-mails are SO misunderstood. If I'm wrong on what happened here. Sorry. But, the main thing is just be respectful to others. Bob,

Welcome aboard. As one of those reluctantly involved in that absurdity, I
apologize to you for making your introduction unpleasant. That is
definitely NOT the norm here -- FAR from it. Hopefully we've put that
behind us and we can return to our usual courteous congeniality -- and
technical discussions.

Now, please tell us more about you, your coach, and your location. The my
signature block is typical of how we keep that information readily
available.

Welcome to our (your) GMCnet. Yes there has been some friction lately but as Ken pointed out, it is not the norm.
There are some incredibly talented people here that help us keep these old machines on the road. Without them, many if not most of us would not be able keep our coaches in reliable condition. But like all gatherings sometimes strong personalities emerge and cause conflicts. I have owned my coach for 12 years and have been registered on the GMCnet since 2004. I can assure you that the frictiont you have observed is a rare ocurrence.
So again welcome and please chime in anytime. All opinions and ideas are encouraged.

Bob,
I'm 100% with Ken on this. Also 100% in agreement with you. We've had our GMC for 10 yrs also and have been on this forum for just as long. Every so often something like this occurs. Often the offenders apologize, or just let it go, and we get on with life. On rare occasions someone goes to far and the moderator politely takes the offender off of this list. So just hang with us, it will be over soon and likely will not occur for some time to come. This is the greatest group I've ever been associated with. Helpful, respectful, courteous. Just plain nice people.
Now, as Ken said...tell us about your coach.

Thanks Mac: I had a 66 2dr I drove to College. I never understood Naders complaint of being too light in the front end till I took my tool box out. Only trouble I had was an engine cooling blower bearing. The Yenco Cameros were fast but twisted up on take off. The Chevy 2s were full frame and bad to the bone..

It's not unusual that members on this list also are car nuts or aviation nuts as well!

I loved the Yenko Stingers, kept up with Porsches quite well. Another case of GM killing off a car line just as they were getting things refined just right. I guess that it was just too tough to deal with Nader's bad press on the car, and it was completely different than the rest of their line. If they were making enough money off of the Corvair, I'm sure it would have remained in the line-up.

I don't know what the cause of the disappointment was, but glad I missed it. Luckily, these things don't come around very often, and this group is usually friendly and very helpful on keeping these old RVs on the road.

I too, say welcome aboard!! Good to meet someone with the same "afflictions" Cool . We have had our Palm Beach for 10 years and have been in and out of the Group (took a turn with big SOB, but still kept upgrading the PB) Also happy to see you're a corvair affectionado (spelling ??) We have a 66 monza with a built counter-rotating Alloy 215 cu.in. buick V8,HD powerglide and finned aluminun brake drums allaround. 47k miles since new, with 1500 miles in the little buick. Factory air and tinted glass. We are the 3rd owners, with the previous two being the wives of close friends/Corsa members. Both the GMC and Corvairs are an itch you can scratch, but never really get rid of!! Laughing

Larry, you and Ken and many others on this net have likely met Bob at a GMCMI convention. He was at the Rapid City convention, Goshen, Montgomery, both Amana conventions and many others over the last few years. He often tows a large trailer with his Corvair behind his GMC.

His wife Linda had a terrible mishap after a normal knee replacement surgery when it became infected and they eventually had to amputate. So Bob now tows a van behind the GMC which is built for her electric wheelchair access.

Bob and I have been friends for several years now. He lives in Cedar Rapids, IA and was extremely helpful to me with our planning and set up of the first Amana convention.

Good to see you on the GMCnet, Bob.

I was poking around here in 2002 when thinking about acquiring a GMC and was looking for insight on towing issues and solutions, but left when the signal-to-noise ratio among several posters became truly obnoxious to the point that I didn't want to participate in such a group. I can't remember who or what the endless argument was about, but it was similar to the current nonsense.

After finally pulling the trigger on my first GMC a year or so ago, I'm back and now realize this sort of thing is cyclic and it is probably pretty difficult to avoid flare-ups when you have a diverse group exchanging ideas. So I'll stick around and ignore the noise and enjoy the good stuff. Hopefully others will too. Perhaps one day I'll have something helpful to contribute.

thanks to everyone for this group - no way I'd be able to get my GMC up to par without (most of) you all.

cheers -

Bob,

I would like to apologize to you and all the other individuals that frequent the GMCnet for my contribution to your disappointment.

I reacted emotionally when I just should have ignored the individual.

I have learned from this experience and should it happen again that's exactly what I will do.

Regards,
Rob M.

Bob,

I would like to apologize to you and all the other individuals that frequent the GMCnet for my contribution to your disappointment.

I reacted emotionally when I just should have ignored the individual.

I have learned from this experience and should it happen again that's exactly what I will do.

Regards,
Rob M.

We've had our GMC for 10 years. And have been a member of the club for almost the same length of time. Been to 9 rally's. Love'd
every one of them. Members and officers have been so great. I've been a member of a car club for 27 years. Served on the Board, tech
editor, and chaired 3 national conventions for them. Just started to visit this site recently. It was stuff like this morning that
drove me out of the car club after all toughs years. I didn't go back and check on any of who said what. DO NOT CARE. If you can't
be nice , and respectful to others. Then leave the rest of us OUT OF IT. Send your hate mail off line. I saw an E-mail that
basically said the same thing that I'm saying. Please, let me enjoy this site. I'm vary aware that e-mails are SO misunderstood. If
I'm wrong on what happened here. Sorry. But, the main thing is just be respectful to others. Bob Dunahugh yenko108@hotmail.com

I have tried to do the same, Rob. But, sometimes it's difficult to do.

Noise tends to come from old stuff or stuff needing oil (attention).
Unfortunately, it happens to be humans instead of things.
