Just trying to find out more on the spring concept. And it IS 2012 and its not that much for a site with 100 kb photos integrated in a post.I would donate as I do to the other forums. Its like $25 a year for members. It already allows files that big just not ones that
one takes just links.

As MOST GMCnet'ers access the forum by the TEXT ONLY email list, pictures are NOT sent with the message. There are advantages to a text only system... but a lot fewer features.

The Web Based On-Line Forum <http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum> is a MIRROR of the email list. (The eMail list is considered the "senior" service of the two.) It is amazing how well these system work with each other.

You CAN post pictures on the on-line forum. If the picture is stored on a website SOMEWHERE, pictures can be embedded into the post and not take any real storage on the Forum server. (It would be best to store them on the GMC picture site to reduce the chance of picture loss. <http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/index.php> )

Anyone posting pictures on the on-line forum should include a text link to the picture so the eMail types can see the picture. (They'll have to click on it...)

If everyone used the on-line forum, the last step would not be required, but we would loose a large number of contributers that "cling" to their email list. Twisted Evil

But please do not embed large pictures, clip them when quoting, and keep them out of your sig. (unless very small)

Mike, it's worth reading through this thread:

http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=msg&goto=188281&rid=2555#msg_188281

I've started doing both, uploading to the GMC photo site and putting descriptions in the photos and then copying both the link AND linking in the photo with the same description in my posts. The email guys get the links to the photos/text and the rest of us can read it with the photos inline.

A bit more trouble but not that much.
