My friend Wally and wife came by for haircuts today and since he is the heat/AC supervisor at UT how about lookin at my furnace while you are here. I asked him about pressurizing the exhaust to check heat exchanger for a leak, after a couple of shut up and listen comments I learned I would have to cap off the inlet from the fan. Meant taking that 38 year old hose and clamp off and plugging it, said to use less than 1 lb to soap or pull a vacuum with a hand pump and see if it will hold, but probably a waste of time trying to get a good seal, I suggested plummers puty and a rubber plug with a port... Got another shut up and listen.. "The furnace works good, go to muffler shop and have extensions made and install it right, fire it up and see what happens with the detector."
So I got the other one out and mine back in with the extensions the muffler shop provided free of charge. Lynn said " life and death jobs are free." Tomorrow I will have to enlongate the intake hole in the coach to align properly. It would have never aligned as is.
Thank you all for your help and concerns.. If you don`t have a carbon monoxide detector, please get one.. It is the only way you will know...
