I did a little trade to get a set of dinette benchs. My plan was to run them side by side to replace a sofa in my 75 eleganza. This would have been for my drivers side between drivers seat and kitchen counter. Benchs were to long together by maybe 3 or 4 inches. I decided to take apart, and without upholstery on them they were still a couple inches to long. This is when the fun started. I cut approx 2 inches off both of them and welded then up to make one sofa. I did the same to seat as well as to back rest part. I wish I had taken pictures. Today I finished the upholstery on the back rest part. It turned out a little tighter than the seat section which I may remove fabric and tighten. I have learned enough to know that dinette benchs make a good sofa. That foam is a little expensive but easy to cut with a good bread knife. That an old singer sewing maching model 192k, I have had this machine for 10 plus year and this is first time I have even put a needle in it. Size 18 needle and upholstery thread. A few drops of light machine oil at the proper places and this little machine made this sewing job not so much a choir. Dinette is next, hopefully in a week or three I will have pic worth looking at.
