Ok, I don't want to start a fight but I'd like to know what the group knows about the rights to carry firearms in our MOTOR homes.

I have concealed carry permits that allow me the right to carry concealed weapons (and any weapon in a vehicle is considered 'concealed' in most states). However, there are some states that do not recognize my permits (from Alabama and Arizona). And a few states like IL and NY that only recognize their own or don't allow concealed carry even for their residents. In those states, the conventional wisdom is that if you transport a pistol through the state, it must be in a locked box inaccessible from the drivers area.

However, all states (to my knowledge) allow citizens to have firearms IN THEIR HOMES. A friend told me that because the motor home was his HOME at the time, he could have his pistol outside a locked box even if he could not leave the vehicle with it.

My goal is to be able to have my pistol available in the coach in places where I cannot carry it concealed on my person and not go to jail for it.

Before someone asks I am an old fart that used to run up and down the interstates selling metalshaping tools...usually for cash. Rest areas and such can be scary places and I've actually had an "event" that makes me fairly paranoid....with some justification.
