I have a 1974 coach, the gas tank filler tube is leaking at the rear of the elbow that enters the frame and crossmember below the filler pipe. I have replaced this 3 -4 inch piece of tubing twice and it still leaks even after double clamping it. I guess after 40 years the metal may have a pin hole leak.
In the parts book on page 12-2 & 12-3 Part #26 lists a first design which I probably have and a second design. The drawings are an artists dream and do not reflect what was built.
What does the second design look like?
If it looks better maybe I would like to replace my filler tubes with the second design, if I can find one.

Did you notice the elbow is different sized - in /out---
Jimk has the correct one

Also the top of the tank drains there

Good luck

I have had a 78 and now have a 74. I have no idea wether the 74 is a new or old design. Howeve, being in California, I can say that filling the 78 was a lesson in frustration. I had to make a gizmo to put over the filler tube because the pump nozzle would not go in the fillerfar at all. I had both coaches for two years. The 74 fills like a dream. The nozzle goes all the way in with ease. I measured every which way and could not figure out the difference except it appeared that the 74 came up at a alightly different angle. It "leans out" just a tad, so the nozzle headb is away from the top of the filler box.

So, there is a unscientific analysis. If I have the early, I don't want to change.

Are you sure the gas is not running down firm the vent hose? Mine are banded together.
