After several months of thinking, looking, lusting, and driving, we finally own a drivable coach. Many thanks to Ken Henderson who found it while driving by a RV dealer in Nashville on his way to the Amana rally.
The photos are in an album here: http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g6219-grand-old-dame-our-new-77-eleganza-ii.html
She is a Grand Old Dame, a 77 Eleganza II that previously belonged to JR and Mary Ann Wells of Nashville. She has a 403 that runs great. I've owned cars with less power for sure. Tranny shifts and downshifts perfectly. The Wells took great care of the coach and she is in fine shape:

The paint is not perfect (primarily the stripe) but is quite presentable.

Corian counter top. There is a two burner electric cookpad that stores under the counter until needed. No oven because the PO used the microwave and a toaster oven.

Leather seats, two digital TVs, some additional instruments. Everything works including the dash AC. Lots of upgrades, new aluminum radiator, air system compressor to bags, front suspension, brakes, and a bunch more. Haven't tried the central vac yet but everything else works.

New ZipDee 18' awning. Alcoas and tires are about 4 years old.

Davo and swivel chairs for the fold up table. Bamboo floor up front, vinyl in the kitchen, and carpet in the hall.
We're pretty excited about it. We wanted rear twins but they're scarce and we decided we'd just split up and I'd use the bottom Davo and the wife will take the bed in the back.
Now we need to think about a TOAD. I have a S10 automatic that I'd like to use but know I have to do something to it first. Time to do some research....

Kerry,
Congratulations on the new coach. Very nice looking!
Perhaps you might install a facing couch in the front -- creating twin beds in that area.

Kerry,
Congratulations on your successful trip home! I think you can expect a lot
more trouble-free miles from that coach.
Re: S-10. I've got a '91 S-10 that I probably towed 15K miles before SHE
insisted on a 4-door replacement (CRV). All you have to do to it is get a
Remco drive shaft disconnect. That consists of a dog clutch that's
installed immediately forward of the rear U-joint. An actuating mechanism
bolts to the differential housing so that you can dis/engage the dog clutch
with a cable in the cab. I've never had a moment's trouble with it, and it
was transferred in about '93 from my folks' Cherokee. For the tow bar
attachment, I had a couple of receiver tubes welded on the front of the
frame. Into each of those I insert a 1-1/4 "drawbar" with mounting ears
for the tow bar. Simple. cheap, and unobtrusive (if I ever bothered to
remove the drawbars).
Now, do you need another parts coach? I've got a lead on probably a good
one. :-)

Congratulations on the acquisition. Ken's eagle eye was of great benefit.
I'll look for it my next trip down I-65.

Hi Kerry;
Yes Congratulations on the find. It looks like a fine coach and with your
talent we look to see what transpires.
Our other coach is a 77 Eleganza II and the same color. Different layout
inside.
After leaving your place we went to New Orleans, then Galveston, Phoenix,
Las Vegas up through Reno (no gambling because some think it is enough of a
gamble to own a GMC MH) we headed north west on 395 then onto 44 to Mt.
Shasta, Cal. From there up I-5 to tonight's campsite in Yerka, Cal. We
have put on over 13,000 miles so far and loving it.
When in Texas we stayed overnight at Bob and Sandra Price's and talked
about Alaska in 2013 (no set date)
and planning for 2014 when we will converge on the Ford Museum in Detroit
(will do Chrysler museum and will try to get into GM's) then over to South
Bend for the Studebaker Museum then onto Chicago to start the Route 66
Rolling Rally.
Plan on being part of this.
Best regards

I'd highly recommend a stop in Auburn at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg museum.
It's worth the time. The National Truck Museum is behind it on the same plot
of ground.

Second vote for the Auburn-Cord-Dusenburg Museam. The car collection is just great. I really liked the Cord, with it's copper trim, instead of chrome. The Art-Deco building is worth the visit, almost without the cars.

That is a nice coach! I looked at it to get some ideas about my own coach. Love how they had mounted the TV in the front. I'm doing something similar with mine. Hopefully, the other coach will find a good home if its still there.

I've already moved the TV. Interfered with the hatch raising, blocked AC, and isn't legal. Instead, I'm going to make a padded holder for it on the step behind the passenger seat. There will be enough COAX so it can be sit up on the hatch or, more likely, placed on the couch when there is just the two of us sitting in the captains chairs.
