About the GMC information accessibility (finding info) and long-term security (don’t lose it) issues:
•What we have now works pretty good – lots of people participate and contribute words and pictures – changing it would cause problems
•The GMC-related data that is the most active is on web sites that are owned and managed by a small number of much-appreciated individual volunteers (Bdub, Patrick and Gene Fisher come to mind) who have no one to back them up
•Information can be hard to find because there is little or no connection between the discussion and the photos for a topic
•Some people, me included, write articles and post photos on their own web sites
•Some of the GMC clubs have web sites where technical articles are published
•Gene Fisher’s web site (gmcmotorhome.info) is valuable because Gene ties information together and organizes it. He grabs things that are worth saving from the net discussions and other places as they happen and keeps a copy of them that is much easier to find.
•Not having anyone backing up the people who keep the information and keep it flowing puts us users in a risky position

I think what we need are more “Gene Fishers” – more data gatherers and organizers. We also need to protect the data so I suggest using the web sites that are already supported by GMC clubs. We should also make sure that there is a support team for each club web site. The “Gene Fishers” would write articles or just organize the information about the problems and solutions discussed on the net. They would then publish them on the club web sites the way the real Gene Fisher and Rob Mueller do.

I would love to have some contributors for the GMCWS.org web site – members or not.

Trying to change the way things are done now would just discourage contribution. I say that it is great that we generate so much information and what we really need is data organization
