I had a similar rate hike this past renewal. I had never had any vehicle insurance go up that much before, so I called Progressive directly with my concerns and mentioned I would probably need to shop around. She looked over my policy and found some technicalities (it might have had something to do with home ownership & value, but I can't remember). In the end, my policy limits remained the same, and my premium actually went down a few dollars.
Doesn't hurt to call....

If you folks are shopping for "Agreed Value" check out Ameriprise, available through Costco.
I recently changed from Mercury for my cars and Progressive for the GMC. Had to supply photos of all sides of the motorhome but they issued agreed value policy in California at lower cost than Progressive.
They also will issue a very inexpensive "Classic Vehicle/Car" policy for vehicles that are driven very little.
Some GMC's may qualify for the Classic Vehicle policy. I didn't ask since my GMC gets more miles than my Jeep.

WOW Gene, perfect timing.
I read your message this afternoon and was piqued. I have an old pickup that was used less than 1,000 last year. And have been pondering going to "agreed value" for the GMC.
Less than two hours later the mail arrived with an ad from Costco and Ameriprise. Without your heads up it would have gone straight to recycle, like the one I receive monthly from FMCA and GMAC.
Thanks I'll be checking into it. Hope it turns out to be real agreed value.

Here is the latest information.
1. Explorer recomended GMAC or Progressive
2. Costco/Ameriprise no longer writes agreed policies. They
recommended GMAC.
3. GMAC no longer writes agreed policies, they recommended
Progressive.
4. A call to Progressive resulted in the following.
1. They increased my deductible to $5000 which resulted
in a $75.00 savings. But I really do not have a
deductible because I have been with them since 2006 and
they have a vanishing deductible if you go so many years
without a claim.
2. The following applies to Michigan only policy holders.
If you have your vehicle registered as a historic
vehicle, you do not have to pay the full amount for
MCCA. It is now $175.00 per vehicle per year but for
historic vehicles it is $35.00. So if you live in
Michigan and have your coach registered as a historic
vehicle, make sure to contact your insurance company and
have your MCCA reduced.
5. Great American insures RVs through their division National
Interstate. I will call them on Monday.
I sometimes question the value of the GMC. I have a 2011 Ford F-150 Eco Boost that gets 9mpg when towing my travel trailer. The trailer costs $40.00 per year for insurance. Yea, I know, the GMC is just so much fun.

Rick,
I switched to Ameriprise in Sept less than 2 months ago and obtained an agreed value policy. Have they change their policy since then?
Perhaps different agents are giving out different info. Or maybe there is a limit on the amt of an agreed value policy for old coaches.
