Hey All;

A couple of years ago I was heading up the Grapevine (big long
grade in CA) and the floor started smoking where the driver's side
muffler hangs. Seems it was really hot outside and I was towing a
trailer with a buggy on it and I had the throttle mashed to the floor.
I guess the muffler got a little cherry red on me. Anyway, I pulled
over at the Flying-J almost at the top of the grade and put out the
still smoldering floor/carpet. Since it was pretty much all down hill
from there, I continued on to the next town with an AutoZone in it. I
bought a couple of metal drip pans, some wood screws and a bunch of
washers. I made some standoffs with the washers (about 20 on each
screw) and then installed the pans over both mufflers. Haven't had a
problem since. Today I'm fixing the damage. Here's some pictures of
the repair...
