Returned to northern Cal. from GMCWS Utah Rally after filling GMC tanks in Nevada.  Found gas up about 50 cents a gallon from when I left. I bought a few gallons for the toad at $5.10 a gallon here in Vacaville.  We drove to Fleet week without adding fuel to the GMC.  Have not filled it up yet.  Paid $4.45 on Wednesday to fill the toad (refused to fill it at $5.10); price on Thursday was $4.32, On Friday it dropped to $4.17 and yesterday it was down to $3.99.  At that rate of change the stations would pay me to fill up for the Red Bluff rally. Fat chance of that!

Recognizing that the 45 cent drop only saves me $14 in fuel costs for the 260 mile round trip to Red Bluff, the higher rate would not have kept me from the rally. I do not think 45 cents more a gallon would keep me from a 2,600 mile trip since that would only be $140 more.
