I have a 26 ft 1973 and my drivers side lower panel, just behind the cab needs replacing. Does anyone know if we can buy these from someone as an aftermarket. I called Cinnabar and they suggested to have fabricated locally.

There is a fellow on eBay that goes by the screen name of BornTim that has/had some GMC exterior panels for sale. You could try to check his listings or contact him through eBay.
I think the aluminum panel would be the easiest and cheapest way to go.

What is wrong with it that you feel it needs replacing? This panel ( below the rub rail) is SMC (sheet molding compound) I.E. "fiberglass" just like a Corvette. It may be easier and more satisfactory to have a body shop repair it. If you are anywhere near Topeka IN stop by Topeka Graphics and ask their opinion. They paint a lot of GMC's and do minor body repair as part of the process and will probably be knowledgeable on the subject.

Having just stripped down a 26' coach, I'm pretty familiar with how the panels are held in place. I tend to agree that it will be difficult to remove the fiberglas panel without cutting the aluminum extrusion out. I'd offer to sell my side panel but don't want to cut the extrusion because I'm going to use it for my car hauler rebody.
That said, it should be easy to repair by anyone who has done fiberglas work. If it is waves you are seeing, they are pretty normal. Most every coach I've seen has them in the fiberglas lower panels. Getting rid of the waves is nearly impossible because the panel will expand and contract at different rates over the repair.

If so these are common and, generally considered to be, uncorrectable and are due to a number of factors including body flex, differential expansion rates between the SMC and aluminum and who knows what else, perhaps 1970's GM production tolerances.

This past summer I parted out a"73". I was able to remove the front left
panel , front panel , and right front panel. I trashed the front left
panel and sold the front end and right panel. Once you get a section of
the glue to break free the rest will separate by forcing a putty knife side
ways to separate the bond. There are three or four screws that hold the
edge of the left panel to the aluminum frame behide the drivers seat, very
difficult to get at even with a gutted wall as the steps forms a barrier to
one or two of these screws. The front panel and side panel are also screwed
together with four screws that are relatively easy to get at from inside
wheel well. I removed the toll window in order to get the putty knife
between the top edge of left panel to cab frame. To remove the front panel
the front windshields had to come out first in order to get the putty knife
between the panel and front end of cab frame.
There is a lot of work involved in separating the glue bonds but it can be
done with time and patience.
Maybe Bob can take a picture or two of the right panel to get an idea as to

Depending on where you are in Indiana, the eBay panel is in downtown Chicago under the L tracks. Though the neighborhood looks scary, he's a nice fellow. I don't know if the panel he has taken off is any worse or better than yours, but do agree that many coaches have the same ripples..
I understand that you do not want to use Bondo on the SMC panels as it will crack in no time and chunk off. There are other fillers specifically made for the SMC panels (also used in early Corvettes).
