From which terminal on the voltage regulator is the input for the reference voltage?

pin 2, hooked to the battery which is the reference
http://goo.gl/K3sV1

pin 1 supplies the excitation current to the rotor ( through the APC
diode) and the 10 ohm nichrome wire
(black wire, on apc)
