I was looking seriously at using that stuff until I read the
installation guide for it. It's not good in direct sun or
big temperature swings. I figure that pretty much ruled
out a GMC, but maybe others have used it with success.

Now I'm leaning toward a cork floating floor. I've been
testing all the flooring samples I get by soaking them in water
for a day or two, figuring that there will again be leaks at some point.
A lot of the products swell up like a balloon, but I found that if I seal
the edges of the samples with varnish, many are reasonably impervious.

I heartily agree with your sentiments on carpet, though I haven't
found a reasonable way around it for the cockpit area.

Karen...we have had cork "click" laminate for 4 years now and love the stuff. Warm on the feet and livable in every way...we would recomend cork all day long...

A major problem we had is that you have to bolt things down in a moving
vehicle and that kept our "floating" laminate floor from being able to
float. This was fine for AZ. A trip to MN changed all that when the
humidity caused the floor to expand. When it couldn't, it just started
pushing up at the joints because it needed somewhere to go. Upon return to
AZ and after a few days in 5% humidity, it shrank. This left small gaps in
the ends and allowed dirt to get trapped in them. Sure enough, another
trip back to anyplace with humidity and now the boards had zero room for
expansion.
I have a friend with the flooring (cork) you describe and they have had it
in their coach for 5 years now with no problems.

I had a couple cork flooring people tell me that I would not like the cork, that it would dent???
I live in an area where humidity can be a big issue, will cork expand as much as hard wood?
also, has anyone done bamboo?/
