I have used Garmin products over the last 10 years. I have found that they are very useful, especially when it comes to "exiting" the freeway since they give you how much distance it is until you have to exit. Of course, the "side seat navigator" relays all this info to me since gazing into a 4.3" screen just doesn't do it for these old eyes.
I just got a new Garmin, a "nuLink! 1695". It has a larger screen and it's easier to read. It includes a program that shows the weather radar on the display as well as any weather related warnings in the area where you are. The program is free for a year.
Getting ready for a trip up to Bryce Canyon later this month. I'll write a review of the unit's operation after I get back.

Now, is there another unit that will let me do the same thing? Strips and trips does it but I am talking a dash unit.
I grabbed one of the cheap Tom Toms advertized on this net a couple of years back. Not worth throwing away, so I am kinda picky.
Thanks,

Dan,
Among my clients, I have found that the choice of GPS is about as personal as a taste for beer. Lowrance has been a good supplier of both Loran and GPS for years and like Garmin, they have a good reputation.
Most of what you can do with one high end GPS, you can do with most. We make small change every season collecting waypoints from the old GPS and loading them in the new one(s).
By the by.. Lowrance has about gotten out of the car GPS market and left it to for Tom-Tom, Garmin and Magellen to fight it out with bottom price units.

I have a Lowrance in my airplane attached to my autopilot. It has worked flawlessly for years.
