Sir: What year is your coach? There were 3 different seat bases. Most people just put up with it and put in new windshields so they can see thru the top. I have used swivels and Flex steel Capt chairs out of a van. I was able to cut them down and was quite comfortable. I currently have the late model off set swivels with a set of Honda Odysey center seats.

I`m 6`2 and am very comfortable.
Welcome. If you would add to your sig with year and model of coach and your hometown. The coaches are different and it would give us a headstart on diagnosing issues.

I had a 78 Royale with rear twins. That means a big driver's side kitchen. Ken H and I removed the seats and took them to Ken's welder and had the mechanism extended. The seat would then extend back an additional 2-3" so the back of the seat touched the kitchen cabinet. The next move was to remove about 3/4" of the counter top overhang. I'm 6'5" and decided the last step (cutting the countertop) was not necessary.
Just how tall are you??

Obviously, you could mount the seat lower, but you will have to make provisions to move the seat further back and perhaps lower the steering wheel position ((there's a kit that makes that easy to do). I had to change my seat and move the adjusting rails further back to get a good fit for myself. The position of the base is somewhat specified by frame sections so it is properly attached, but anything else can be moved as necessary. It just takes time, careful measurements, and some creativity.

Usually the seats can easily be moved back a couple of inches with 4 new bolt holes drilled in the swivel plate if there is clearance behind the seat. And tilting the seat back is easily accomplished with a couple of washers under the front slides.
