Gene,
I read the information very carefully and would like to comment. Plugging the crossovers with Mondello or Paterson block off plates
is OK if only the bottom of the crossover passage that is exposed to the lifter valley is cracked. If BOTH the passage exposed to
the lifter valley AND the bottom of the carb plenum is cracked will keep exhaust gasses out of the lifter valley, however, it would
be possible (depending on how big the crack is) for engine vacuum to draw oil vapors from the lifter valley into the carb plenum. It
would be a vacuum leak at the very least.
We are back in Houston and i have a cracked manifold that the crossover will be filled with Hard Blok. This is the material that the
drag racers fill their engine blocks with in lieu of water.
I am hoping that a manifold with a cracked crossover filled with Hard Blok stop oil vapors from being sucked into the carb plenum
and stop vacuum leaks.
Hopefully I'll have time to get to it with all the other stuff I have to do between now and Oct 22nd when I fly out.
Regards,
Rob M.
