OK. So why are tachs so spendy??

I want to put a tach in my gmc. mainly to figure out what final drive I am running. and also keep a little better eye on the shift points.

I have seen tachs on ebay for $25.00. but most go for well over $100 bucks.

I want one that probably only goes to 4000 rpm.

I have automotive test meters, that have tachs on them, that I only paid $5 for.

just a simple digital readout would work for me.

What is so fancy? I do not want to buy cheap and get something that does not work. but I do not want to pay $125 for something I rarely look at or pay attention to, when I could of spent $30?
