Ever time I see this posted I brush it off, But in the back of my mind I wish i had a picture with cap off, and a pointer to where I need to add this drop of grease. I have not been hesitant to this point to ask dumb questions,so no need to start now. Any one have a picture even an idiot like me can see and understand.

On one end of each weight is a point where it pivots. That pivot point is what needs to lubricated. There is also a spring attached to each pivot point. That should help you locate it.

Brian,
This is the best picture I could find quickly -- he is holding a weight. Rust can form on the bottom of the weight preventing it from swinging or pivoting. I like to clean the bottoms of the weights with scotch brite -- and add lube there and on the pivot point -- not too much. If your weight are not frozen now -- just add a little lube.

To put all these comments together....
On the weight pivot pin, on the 4 spring pivot pins and the contact patch on the underside of the weight. This is only part of the big picture as the concentric shaft parts and vac diaphragm pivot pin need it too. Just a light film as you dont want it slung inside the cap.

One more essential point from Dick: Before you remove the weights, notice
the numbers on them. If they're up, keep them up. If down, keep them
down. Otherwise you'll change the advance curve. Because of the reverse
rotation of the Olds distributor shaft, the weights mount the opposite of
those in Chevrolets. I don't remember which has the numbers up. Of
course, if someone before you inverted them, you're SOL. :-(
