If you manage how your browser reacts, and the links are from a reputable company, it's not a problem.
Or, if you have an Apple computer, it's generally not a problem.

Here's a pretty accurate assessment:

You don't go around licking the handrails in public places. Don't go clicking on stuff that you don't have some idea of where it goes.

As Gene says, it's not an Apple vs PC issue. It is the integrity of the
URL at which the shortened link points.
