Richard & John,
Ref: Your incompleted call on Thursday.
Sorry I missed your call. I misplaced my cell phone charger when we left
home for Amana so I've been pretty much incommunicado for several days. I
found the charger after arriving home today and got your voice mail.
Since I've never tried any other motor than that from 90-96 Lumina APV's, I
can't give you a definitive answer. I did go to the ACDelco site to try to
compare photos of 90-96 and 99 motors. I didn't find a listing for 99
Lumina APV -- I'd previously though '96 was the last year for that model.
But I did look at the Lumina and Venture motors, neither of which looks
much like that the 90-96.
Let me tell you the criteria from which I selected the motor originally:
1. The longest wiper arms I could find (to ensure adequate motor power).
2. A 360* rotating output shaft long to make the arm clear the mounting
bolts. 3. Built in delay function so I didn't have to provide external
electronics.
If you find a motor meeting those criteria, it should work though perhaps
requiring different control wiring. Identical mounting hole locations
would be nice, but a drill can quickly correct any discrepancy there.
Since the 90-96 has usually been easy to find, and is a stock item at most
AutoZones, I haven't had any incentive to seek an alternative. If you find
one, I'd sure like to share it with others though. If there was a half-way
decent junk yard any where near me, I'd offer to check out the '99, but
there's not.
Let me know if I can help.
Ken H.
