We travelled where we were not supposed to.
Coming in we followed the GPS. Took us onto a road that had height
restrictions, so off onto another that took us through the Bronx. Like in
the movies travelling under the steel bridges, wraving in and out just
missing steel columns, pedestrians, moving and parked cars. Glenn following
and goimg thru several red lights in order to stay together. Police saw
many of our infractions and did nothing. People looked at us in amazement,
or wonder. Got many thumbs up.
This continued to take us onto 3rd ave then Park Ave. Signs saying
passenger cars only. We carried on in heavy traffic now mostly yellow cabs.
Again thur red lights, cutting in and out of traffic. When will this end I
thought many times. Glenn held in right behind. The scenery had changed
from ghetto to high end. Nearing MetLife building I was hopping we would
turn but no.
there was an archway and thru it we went now onto a raised platform road.
Sweat ran from my brow. Onward. No turning back or onto narrow side
streets. Thru Manhatten and came to entry for Holland Tunnel. Big sign
saying No Campers or Propane. We were in a line up and no where to turn. We
stopped traffic and got out to turn off our propane got back on and moved
on. A Police officer was at the entry, he saw us and got out of his car and
walked across in front of us into a small building. We just headed past
into the tunnel. It went on for some time and after about 10 minutes in the
tunnel we emerged without a problem and made our way to the Marine RV
Campsite. What a relief to all of us.

Wow: that brings back memories of being in the Bronx 3 times a week for 3 years in a bigtruck. I am really surprised that when you stopped to turn off the propane that you still had tires and wheels when you got ready to go. Thanks for the report..

Dwayne, this the only time in all of these travels I am relieved to say I
was not with you guys. These are times of which LEGENDS are created and
passed down from generation of GMC owners to the next. But it's gonna be
hard to embellish this legend.

Dwayne, I was just wondering, did you take pictures of your Manhattan
Sojurne? If you took pictures while driving through hells gate on the
Fraser River canyon down those treacherous 1 lane goat trails, NYC should
have been a piece of cake. (GRIN)
