We had a great dinner last night. Well, some of us did. Because of the
influx of last-minute types (or because of over-zealous appetites) the
last table of two had to wait a bit for chicken and steak. Everyone got to
have a big, chocolate chip cookie that was delicious.

There were three drawings for prizes that were done in honor of the 30th
anniversary.

Ken and Laura Burton made it here, finally.

Following the meal the campground director, who lives in Amana, talked
about the history of the people of Amana and the religious values and
culture that still thrives here. The Amana Society still owns 26,000 acres
that is in productive use today for grain farming, as pasture land, and
forest. To read more go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amana_Colonies

This morning we awoke to a hard frost but this afternoon the sun is
shining brightly and the sky is clear. It's a great fall day in central
Iowa and nearly 280 GMC friends are having a great time. (A couple of
folks left their awnings out over Friday night. They were awakened early
on Saturday morning by a strong, windy cool front. Minor damage was done
to a coach or two. Others have learned the lesson to never go to sleep
with the awning unfurled.)

Attendance at the worship service was a bit over 100. The congregation
joined in singing heartily the hymn "How Great Thou Art". There were 22
who sang in the choir for the worship experience. I led them in singing an
arrangement written in honor of the faithful pilgrims who are members of
GMCMI. The anthem is called "We Are One". Dan Stuckey delivered another
tremendous message we all appreciated. He also had some words to remind of
us our responsibilities in facing another time of election here in the US.
Even as a Canadian, he's extremely interested in what happens politically
in the USA.

The tech sessions have now started.

Ice cream and Bingo tonight.
