Thank you and Kudos to all of you who post on this forum. Without you, I would still be stuck.
Background
I was stuck last week in Whitewater, WI without Ignition. Read through the Maintenance manual and started troubleshooting.
1. Check for spark at the plugs. Nothing.
2. Check points gap 0.017" OK
3. Check for spark at the coil lead to distributor. Nothing.
4. Check for voltage on the coil primary side. OK
5. Then looked closely at the coil, wiggle wires and found the wire from the key switch loose at the coil primary wire post. Tightened. Then started the engine. Yipee.
Then as the engine was running, noticed a small fuel drip at the fuel filter housing. Tightened the housing, then the leak was worse.
Dissasembled and found that the housing threads were stripped.
Back to this forum, and the internet to research the solution. Found a temporary solution and off i went to the local automotive parts store. Ordered a self taping oversized filter housing. # Dorman HELP! 55141
I just installed the housing, and the leak is gone.
Eventually will buy a rebuild Carb, but for now, I'm on the road again for a few more miles.
