On my 1978 Royale I disconnected the wires going to the Onan voltage regulator a few years ago as suggested by Duane Simmons. I guess a lot of coaches only had three wire going to the regulator. Mines has four and I discovered today that one of the four wires went to the Onan choke to energize it. Now I know why the Onan always started hard even with a primer switch when cold. The choke wasn’t working even though after taking it off and looking at it, it appears to be in good shape.

My question is does anyone know if I can just plug-in the wire coming from choke and the wire connected with it back into the the regulator to get the choke energized or does all the wires to the regulator have to be plugged back in?

I’m afraid to just plug-in the choke wire that has a wire hooked to back to the regulator without the others wires being hooked back up for fear of damaging the control board. It looks like the wire hooked to the choke wire runs to the control board. I can’t see where on the board it is connected.

Any info would be much appreciated.
