Thought you were talking tires at first till I read a couple times. Guess you mean 455 valve stem seals. If you mean machine for hi tech Teflon seals I'd stay away as they control oil TOO well.

The perfect circle valve seals come in a couple of styles. Some are made to
go over the standard valve guides with no machining.
Some require machining the top of the guide. There are also different seal
materials. Some allow a slight bit of oil to pass to lubricate the stems
and seals. When the valve guide clearance is correct, there is only. 001"
to. 0015" clearance on the intakes and .002" or so on the exhaust. If you
shut off all the oil, you will stick the valves in the guides

I'll confess I totally don't get the reference (Tonowanda Turd). This seems like a terribly neat GMC and I was meant to ask if on this list knew the owner or the vehicle.

Back when most/all GM divisions produced big block engines the Chevy BB, from the Tonowanda engine plant, were felt to be not quite up to the same quality as some others. They were manufactured to a lesser quality to make a price point. There are some that feel even today that this lesser construction still prevails. I'm not sure of this with today's emphasis on quality but I really don't know. It is somewhat a moot point as these are the only GM big block gas engines I know of.
Other opinions and facts welcome of course.
There is also a body of opinion that anything other than the original 455 or 403 is trouble as it then is a "one off" that may not be easily worked on, except by its "creator", due to its custom nature.
YMMV and "you pays your money and takes your choice."
And yes, it is an interesting coach.

It belongs to Bud Allen. Bud is a machinist by trade. He has created many
imaginative and beautiful hot rod cars over the years.
He took it up to Dino Sources several years ago for the Vortec
installation. I believe he stayed right there with them to make sure it
was done to his standards, which are very high. Right up there with Dave
Lenzi and Ken Rose.
There is no doubt he has well over $100,000 in that coach and it shows. He
even has a custom stainless steel bar-b-q grill for the back bumper.
An awesome machine

The rederence was intended for the engine, from Tonowanda Foundry. It started back in The Day, when most of the production from there reputedly used cast iron crankshafts. With a forged crank, the 454CID could be develooped into a screamer. But we of the Mopar Persuasion certain;y wouldn't acknowlege it. Nothing to do with the coach. Sounds like an interesting swap.

Belongs to Bud Allen now. It was always a Florida coach until 1998, in
fact it was based in Ft Pierce, for several years, Ft P is 10 miles
