Exhaust on my 75 Glenbrook is due for major renovations. Both mufflers to be replaced and both manifold gaskets.
Question?? Do I replace manifold bolts or reuse them?? Any preference regarding gaskets. Midas Muffler quotes under $20. for the gaskets - or are there something special I should be looking at. Mufflers about $100. each. Whole works including labor under $600. which seems reasonable to me. (assuming no broken bolts)
Any special advice will be appreciated.

Based on my highly scientific sample size of one, I would expect 2 of 10
manifold bolts to break... after you soak them for a week with penetrating
oil and try to ease them out as carefully and patiently as any male can.
I just installed the Remflex gaskets which seem quite nice. If I were
doing what you describe, I would replace every bolt and also the donut
gaskets and bolts, as well as the pipe between the manifold and muffler.
That would leave you a single break between old and new behind the muffler.

Another vote for Remflex gasket. Call JmK and get them from him. Follow the mounting instructions fully, you will be very happy, and quieter.

Probably cheaper and better to change to single two in one out muffler mounted in the front or a rear mounted single muffler.
