Is there anyone in or near the city that could direct us where we could
leave our coaches for the day while we take the tramsite to tour it.

I'm not there, but there is a newly opened RV park, that is either city or county owned located on an old airfield/runway. Read about it last year in one to the RV magazines. Forgot to file it, because I could not imagine driving a GMC to NYC, never mind the heavily congested area surrounding it.
Gook Luck on your hunt.

Dwayne, we recently stayed at a KOA northwest of Chicago that was close enough that campers could take the bus or train into the city in a reasonable amount of time. Expensive for camping but nice and they even had what they called dry storage for $5 per night that we used to go to Milwaukee about 90 miles away and stay with our friends for several days. Another time in the Annapolis area we used regular storage facilities and took advantage of their free first month offer with no obligation - they even knew what we were doing and didn't care.

Dwayne, in 2010, Bob and I made a day trip to Ground Zero. From our RV
park we drove our towd about an hour to the Statue of Liberty parking lot.
Parked, caught the ferry to the Financiall district and walked to the
places we wanted to see--only a day trip, but enough to make us want to go
and spend more time. Sandra and Bob

That seems like a pretty good option. Conveniently close to Manhattan. Not too many other choices, that I know of. The one out on the old airfield in Queens (Archie Bunker's county) is probably a good bit cheaper, MAYBE more appealing space but much further away from Manhattan. Additionally it's on Long Island, which is involved and expensive to get to. It can be great if you wanted to go there, but not as a parking option.

Enjoying your postings Dwayne...

Thank you all. I pulled up the web site for Liberty Harbour and Marine Rv
Park.
Will contact them.
We just got back to our campsite at the end of our time in Peggy's Cove,
them Halifax Water Front then back to Peggy's Cove for dinner and watch the
awesome sunset.
Will write more later about today.

I've stayed at the Liberty RV Park. It's within a short walking distance to public transportation and a longer walk (but doable, did it in the rain, wouldn't recommend that!) to where the ferry leaves to go to Liberty Island. It was $60 a night for water and electric 2 or 3 years ago. Not a fancy park, really just a parking lot. Fenced in lot, but some questionable characters hanging out near the bathrooms after dark.

Dwayne,

This IS the closest RV park to NYC. Helen and I stayed there a few years back and it is OK. Nothing fancy BUT IIRC we paid something
like $60 a day all up with a Good Sam discount. We stayed 6 days so that came to $360 total. Check and see how much a hotel in NYC
costs per night and you'll realize how good a value this is.

You can walk 5 blocks to the Hudson Tube that takes you across under the Hudson arriving at Ground Zero. Also there's a tram that
will take you up to Hoboken (my home town).

Regards,
Rob

Heck - I'm 90 minutes from the city.
If you're just needing a couple nights, you can park in front of my house.
(We're at the end of a dead-end street - directly on the water. Not a bad morning view)
If you behave yourself, I might even give you electric and water (No sewer) and a ride to the railroad station.
