Sorry, John, we will not be at Amana. I would love to help you with your alignment after all you have been through! We just got back from a 3000 mile jaunt up in the mountains following my surgery and Sharon says we need to stay home to enjoy the fall colors here We will be going south for the wet months right after Christmas.
The throttle plate appears to be responding normally to the idle adjust screw but vac on that port stays at around 13", a bit lower than manifold, but not by a lot. The coach runs so well and is so strong I will just follow the advice here and ignore that, time it at 10 static with the vac blocked and enjoy the result.
Thanks to all for the help.

Question I have is why you are leaking vac to the ported port at idle???? Is the base idle setup using that much throttle rotation to be uncovering the port with the blades? Are the throttle plates installed correctly on the shaft? Also remember the real GMC Qjet used a unique triple primary rod but that's another thing. Are you coming to Amana? I'll bring your kit but need help with allignment due to recent hospital stay. I'd love to look at that throttle plate to see wHY?

John,
If you do bring your Jerry Work alignment rig to Amana, I'd like to show it
at the seminar I'm supposed to give. Well, I'd rather not call it a
"seminar"... you'll notice the title says, "Discussion...". WE're going to
talk about alignment -- there will inevitably be a lot of people in the
audience who know more about alignment than I do who will hopefully share
that knowledge so we all learn something.
I'll be showing my simple jigs and I'd like for everyone to see Jerry's
also; my simple handout will consist mostly of useful URL's, including
Jerry's site.
We should be able to drum up a work session/demo using your coach & tools.

This was a real puzzler for me also. Idled down to 450 rpm, the vacuum
gauge still read 12-13 inches of vacuum at idle. I've never seen that with
ported vacuum.

Ken
Is John bringing his Jerry Work alignment rig, or should I bring mine?
