OK, 17 bux to Frady produces a Valterra blade valve for my Norris upfit tank. Samesame as the Lardiner product which was fitted, except it had a handle on the rod instead of a hole for an extended handle. The handle threads on; the rod is stainless while the handle is pot meatl. So, I took a Dremel and knocked a flat on the pot metal handle and drilled through the rod. Worked great cos I'm lucky - I did this with a hand drill motor. It should be done in a drill press so you can be sure you're centered on the rod. The hole allows the dump extension handle to slip over and fit with the cotter pin just like the ooriginal.
The tank Norris used has essentially a 3 inch nipple which the valve flange press fits into and which is then held with a big stainless clamp. I didn't loosen the clamp, so I dunno if it's cemented or just snugged. Should it re - leak I'll pull it all out and have a look at the nipple more closely. And although it's a bit of a pain to get it out of th way, I like the piece of sheet metal Norris put under the assembly to keep road damage from the tank.
