G'day,
I wanted a bit more storage room in the bedroom so I had a cabinet maker that has a shop in the same facility where John Sharpe and
I store our GMC's make this up.
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=6174
I was going to buy one from Michael Bozardt, however, the cabinets he sells WILL NOT fit an Avion and conversely this cabinet WILL
NOT fit a GMC,
The cabinet maker is a young guy that is having troubles keeping his head above water at the moment and he likes projects like this.
If you want one let me know. The price of the cabinet will depend on how many he makes at the same time. He can make them with one
large door if you like.
If you want the OEM Avion trim, hinges, and knobs I can supply a few sets. I won't charge for them.
Da Boss was against this idea until I promised her that the cabinet would require mounting the pleated blind lower and taking away
any of the viewing area.
Please don't ask me for the pattern's as I won't give them to you, I am trying to help a young family man that's struggling at the
moment.
Regards,
Rob M.
PS - the reason for the holes in the doors is I made them out of doors from my parts Avion and it didn't dawn on me that they would
be where they are, however, I reckon with a bit of light wood filler they'll disappear.

Rob,
What is an estimated price at this time? I am redoing the interior of
the Avion and that would be great addition to the back.

JR,
I ate the nonrecurring R&D in the one pictured and I'm not going to use that number as it's not accurate.
I need a second one made for The Blue Streak in Australia you make 2; let's see how much interest there is then I'll contact the
cabinet maker and see what he can do for us.

Rob M.

With that cabinet in place, this picture...
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/rear-window-cabinet-avion-only/p45503-rear-window-cabinet-5.html
shows that there may be a problem getting at the emergency exit ring that allows exit out the back window in case of fire.
Let me know how much...I may be interested.

Larry,
Well spotted! I never thunk of that!
I just walked back into the bedroom, lifted the pleated blinds and stuck my hand up and grabbed the ring in two seconds! I didn't
try to pull it though. Does it have to be pulled 90 degrees perpendicular to the seal or can you pull it any direction?
I damn sure don't want to be selling a cabinet that could result in someone getting trapped in a GMC that's on fire and being
injured!
I appreciate your interest but this cabinet is custom fit to an Avion, I KNOW it won't fit in any GMC model and I doubt it will fit
in any other up fitters coaches.
However, I will be at Amana and will be happy to let anybody who wants to look at it, measure it, or caress it, do so. ;-)
Regards,
Rob M.
