Years ago (1990s) I went looking for a "conversion Van"to buy in NM. I went
to visit an old *colleague*, and friend, MR.C. He said" buy a GMC, they
have rallys, just like we do for Mercedes, to fix them.
So I did, (turned out our coaches were only 1 vin# appart;>). ; a long and
wonderful story....
but
it turned out both of our GMCs had a propane injection system on them,
because the damm carburetors were so bad. ( we eventually both went to
Howell TBIs).
we went to visit the guys who made them ,because they also had an injection
system for the Onan.
so when I woke up this morning thinking about vapor lock on the Onan, and
GMC, due to crappy gas,
I looked on my web page and here is the brochure. I am not going there, but
the brochure had some interesting reading
http://gmcmotorhome.info/propane.html
I will go take pix of the hardware (when I get home).

Does this system take liquid propane from the tank and gasify it before injection or inject liquid directly into the carb?
Looking forward to images of the hardware.

On a small engine, such as an onan, they take the vapor directly from the tank. You can not inject liquid directly into the carb as your carb turns into an ice machine.

I think they are injecting propane vapor from the top of the tank, not liquid from the bottom of the tank. When you try to directly inject liquid propane, you will freeze up at the injector.
Whenever you see the words "low pressure" as in this information, you know you are dealing with vapor not liquid. Liquid is between 150psi and 250psi and expands @270X as it changes to vapor. And it freezes anything it touches during this conversion. Especially fingers.
Yes there are vehicle liquid injection systems, but I don't think this is one of them.

Thanks, Always interested.
Went to the Onan LPG site and reviewed all the pictures, diagrams and literature. Been through this discussion before with Fast Eddie from Huston. He has many propane powered APU, FORKLIFTS, cranes and heavy trucks. The little engines use vapor from the top of the tank, low pressure. Larger engines from liftrucks up use liquid threw a water heated evaporator and the resulting vapor goes to a carb/mixer. GMC's with LPG powered onans use vapor, says the info. They use the same parts as CNG, which is a vapor. How would you get liquid out of a GMC LPG tank to the onan? Trick new valve or?
Once saw a GM LPG fruit truck with propane going threw the radiator in the box where the propane evaporated and went to the engine threw a 2" hose. Fans blew air threw the rad to cool the fruit. 4" pipe from the box to the cab for AC. Old guy who's dad used the same thing at the plant on the farm to cool the storage facility while running the genset for electric power. Dumb ole boys. Didn't know enough to know it wouldn't work.
