Hello I just acquired a 77 GMC Elaganza, it has been sitting for over a year and prior to that all systems were working, so i am told. I was wondering if anyone knew anybody in the Wake Forest area of NC that can work on GMC and maybe teach me a little about the Motorhome, I love it now can't wait to feel how it will be actually running, Thanks for the Help. Shawn

I'd first check with the Blacklist ( a listing of GMC enthusiasts that can help), and look at the names listed in NC. If you search for Blacklist on the GMCnet, you will get an updated list of owners.
BTW, it's named for Roger Black, who first compiled and maintained the list. It's a valuable resource to hae available.
Also, welcome to the world of GMCers! It's a great community with many helpful folks that can help you with your coach.

The time for a lot of questions is before you get it running so the startup goes OK. There is a multitude of help available on the net as well as here.
Start here:
http://www.bdub.net/GMCLinks.html
and here:
http://www.gmcmotorhomeinfo.com/
and also here:
http://www.gmceast.com/about/guide/
BTW this is just a start of the info available. Don't try and read all of this at once it will burn out your brain. Also don't let descriptions of the problems scare you, problems are what we talk about here. The GMCMH, when properly maintained, and with the resources available, is as reliable as any new motorhome and a lot more enjoyable and unique. Welcome to the asylum.

Shawn,
Welcome to the group/family/cult/asylum....
You have already gotten a hint of the power of the GMC community. And, Yes, we expect more questions as you work your way in. These coaches are very different than most, but most important is the good friends that you don't even know yet.
As a favor to all of us that might like to help, build a sig file that has: Your Name (so we know who we are talking to), the coach as a short description, and a geographic reference. From what I can gather so far it would look like:
Shawn
77 Eleganza
Rolesville, NC
This will be an assistance to those offering you help or advice.
And finally, you will find the coach to be much more a part of your life than just another toy. As I am a waterman, I liken it to the relations we have with our boats. For this reason, I have taken up greeting new owners much as a new owner or vessel should be greeted. So, I offer,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.
Welcome Shawn

shawn don't believe a word anyone says here. joke.
i am pretty new myself but i can at least welcome you as well to the greatest rv on earth.
the air ride, hot rod, with a million smiles per mile. good luck mickey :-)
find out how old the tires are, and becareful and drive slow if they are over 10 years old they can
flap around if they blow and break the fender area fiber glass in back. Put in google, gmc motorhome and what ever question
you have and you should land on something on how to read how old the tires are.
it is normal to have some insane name for it. And it will start talking to you in your sleep like avatar.
