I know Jim K has a stainless steel brake line kit for about $500.
Does anyone have a less expensive steel line kit?

Marsh,

I had Tom Hampton install Stainless brake lines at his shop in Ohio. If I were to do it myself I'd use PolyArmour for the brakes too.

Brake lines are not hard to do except stainless is harder to flare. Take an old line off and copy the bends.

Marsh,

Yep, Classic Tube makes a set.

HOWEVER, you better be good at fabricating stainless steel tubing cause they don't fit very well (at least mine didn't)!
