Wheel well liners out to change exhaust manifold gasket to Remflex. Seemed that with the spark plugs accessible It might be a good time to change them. Went down to my local parts supplier with the list found here:

http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=msg&goto=150187&rid=0

Seems NGK XR51X is no longer listed in the catalogues. Anyone know what is the favoured plug now?

Checked for a few of the others on the list and they were also no longer listed.

Try Auto Light, they have the Platnum ones.
Gap them at .040

Jim,
The part number for the NGK XR51X plug is 7355 and is still available.

http://www.ngk.com/results_cross.asp?pid=7355&x=33&y=13

The E3.52 plug is available also and I use them.

You can get them at Advance Auto and other Auto supply outlet

http://tinyurl.com/8fnqxop

Autozone carries the NKG 7293, Autolite AP847, AC Delco 41-818 and the
Bosch 4023 plug all of which will work in the 455.

I checked the plugs on the list and all are still available.

It would depend on where you go to to get your parts and if they stock
the brand you need. Most counter guy at most big box auto part store
have no idea how to fine what you need. Look for the older grey
haired part counter guys, they are the one to talk to.

Thanks Jimk and Jon. I'll give them another try.

I got the Remflex from Applied over a year ago and procrastinated but the CO alarm went off the other day and it seemed I had better do it before we head off at the end of next week.

That CO alarm puts an entirely different spin on this. If you don't have an audible leak in the manifold, that CO alarm indicates a hole somewhere else. Best to check the whole system for leaks.

Will be checking the whole system. It is 3" stainless and fairly recent. When I brought the coach into BC, I had to have it inspected and it was lacking a parking brake as it has disks all around. The inspection facility told me I could install an inline brake as used on forklifts but they could not do it. The guy I had install the parking brake told me he would not pass it with that brake (although he was happy to take the money for the install) and that it needed new exhaust manifold gaskets. Long story to say that I should have done this sooner. Now the pressure is on as I'm trying to get away at the end of next week.
