Is there a consensus on which is the best Pertronix electronic ignition to use to convert the Onan to electronic ignition? I have read in the past that several different models have been used. Do they all come with magnets? If not, where do you get the magnet?
Thanks for any input.

Gary,
I personally believe that 1181 was chosen by many because it is the number for a 455 pre '76. You do not want anything XXXXLS because those are "Lobe Sensors" and then you don't get the magnets in a plastic ring. I don't think this number is the easiest to mount.
Best bet is see what you can find cheap on E-Bay (or other source) and then go to http://pertronix.com/about/images/default.aspx and find the picture and think about how and where you will put it without screwing up the air flow around the flywheel/fan.
Those mounted on a semi- or circular plate often have the sensor side in and the feet toward the same side. This can make the Onan adaptation more difficult. Look at the 1261 picture. See the mounting foot clearly away from the sensor face? That will work. (I am not suggesting the 1261 is a better choice, just that there are choices.)
Remember when setting this up that the fan may not be true. Be sure you pick a blade for the magnet mount that is high enough so other blades won't hit the sensor.
