You all provide solid grounding to the outside world and another reason to push ahead. iPhone typing is too unbearably painful Sooooo
1 they went in checked for leaks at the patch, no leaks
2 checked for more dead intestine, none found
3 checked for swelling and restriction at patch, none to very little found
4 checked for contamination debris and puss etc. some found
So lots and lots of flushing and washing and closed me up with L/R drains in Lower Ab corners. Used low tech stitches this time no hi tech body glue.
Seriously engine/ trans rebuilding and MEDICINE are exactly the same.
Engine temp now 98.4 deg and pressures varying with throttle and load condition as low as 105/55 and 140/88 when angered.
More latter.

John, glad to hear things are coming along.
Hospital stays become especially relying when they have to come in every couple of hours to check your oil, compression, fluid levels, and every other possible thing. Of course, never by the same person or at the same time! Getting rest after your surgery seems to be the last thing on their agenda.
Hope to see you out and about soon. The weather has finally come around to where it's actually nice around here, so get out to enjoy it.
All our best!

Ken thing is here is there are no real days and nights. George and I both know day of week totally is a joke. That's what's so great about it. Couldn't sleep and I typed that out and was sleeping great then. Being out of bed every 4 hours is my most important job 1 right now. Love all you guys.

I spoke to John today, and he is recovering slowly. It's bad enough to have to go through surgery once, but more than twice as hard when you have to go through it twice. Sounds like everything is healing like it should, but John is starting to go stir crazy laying in a hospital bed all day. He finally is able to get up and walk around a bit, so hopefully they'll let him out soon.
Our best wishes and prayers are with him, and he misses his Internet friends!

That kind of surgery is nothing to sneeze at (so to speak).
And he's right. Typing on an iPhone is not the best, but they're great for reading. I imagine reading this list could help relieve boredom.

Hey all GMCers. I'm a lot better both from what all their numbers say and from my seat of the pants diagnosis. I'm producing lots of urine with no extra drugs and so all the edema is going down as fast as it came on. Once up I'm walking at a fairly normal gate pushing my lab on wheels. Still I haven't eaten in 15 days, but they won't let me eat until I first can produce gas output. SO any and all talk of foods, jokes, stories to promote gas expulsion are welcome. The floor is wide open. Sooner I eat sooner I can go home.

A family took their frail, elderly mother to a nursing home and left her, hoping she would be well cared for. The next morning, the nurses bathed her, fed her a nice breakfast, and set her in a chair at a window overlooking a lovely flower garden. She seemed okay, but after a while she slowly started to tilt sideways in her chair. Two attentive nurses immediately rushed up to catch her and straighten her up. Again she seemed okay, but after a while she slowly started to tilt over to her other side. The nurses rushed back and once more brought her back upright. This went on all morning long. Later, the family arrived to see how she was adjusting to her new home. "So Mom, how is it here? Are they treating you all right?" "It's pretty nice," she replied, "except they won't let me fart."
An old lady goes to the doctor and says, "Doctor, I have a problem with gas, although they never smell and are always silent. As a matter of fact since I've been in the examining room, you didn’t realize I've passed gas at least 20 times." The doctor says, "I see. Take these pills and come back to see me next week." Next week the lady comes back. "Doctor," she says, "I don't know what you gave me, but now my expulsions although still silent, stink terribly." The doctor replies,"Excellent, now that we've cleared up your sinuses, let's work on your hearing."
and there's this...

John,
A lot like twenty years ago, Mary had a couple of feet of lower intestine removed along with some other internal modifications related to colon cancer. They were using the same healing criteria at at that time.
Problem: With her system empty and clean, the released gas had very little odor and none that she could detect. I did, but forgot to tell the nursing staff until the next day.
So, try to find an independent observer.......
By the way, you will get back probably 75~80% fast. Live with that because it will be a year for your body to get adjusted to changes.

A pastor goes in to visit an elderly churchgoer who's in the hospital for an operation. He's had a very busy day, meeting with a couple committees, counseling a few young couples getting married, and visiting a couple other shut-ins. He gets to his last stop at the hospital late, and hungry.
He's making small talk with the elderly, frail-looking lady, but can't help but salivate looking at the bowl of peanuts by her bedside.
"Would you mind if I ate a couple of your peanuts?", he asked.
"Of course not - help yourself".
Fifteen minutes later, the pastor is somewhat embarrassed to note that he's finished off the whole bowl.
"I'm SO sorry, I seem to have eaten all your peanuts".
"Oh, that's OK, reverend... since I lost my teeth, all I can do is suck the chocolate off 'em".
Get better, John. I'll shoot up a prayer or two for you.

John, after the two or three stories about gas (or lack thereof), I hope
you don't pop any stitches laughing. Will keep you in our prayers. Sandra
