Gene Fisher (a good friend of mine) keeps stating that GMCMI is holding my presentation "captive".

I want to point out that that is a big pile of "BS".

That presentation is the intellectual
of me. It is not owned by the club. The club has my permission to post it on their site. AND the club has every right to post it in the Member's Only section if it wishes.

I had also been requested for a copy from GMC Eastern States right after I made the presentation at the GMCMI convention at duQuoin, IL. I assumed it would be posted on their site. I have also freely given out PDF copies to many individuals, including Gene Fisher, that requested a copy.

That certainly doesn't sound like the presentation is being held "captive" and quite frankly I am getting tired of having that statement posted on the GMC net.
It is past the "cute" point.

I'm thinking I may be the cause of this coming up again. In trying to get information to help a GMCer that isn't on the net, I solicited advice and quoted a mention of Emery's dual electric fuel pump use. After a surprising amount of time with no responses, it slowly dawned on me that that was the likely reason.

I apologize for not remembering. I had searched my edited notes from the GMCnet saved over the years, as well as the saved but not yet edited notes for anything fuel system related, so I'll plead mental fatigue ;-) That's not to say I would have remembered anyway :-(

In any case, a few days ago, I emailed Richard with that thought, and since he's a likely member of GMCES and even more likely GMCMHI, that he can probably find it there. Now I see he can definitely find it there.

I wish I was in a position to maintain memberships and more support, but sincere thanks to Emery, Gene and All...

Let me say this about that.

WE NEED A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION

That is why I have been a paying member of GMCMI, for almost 20 years.
.
BUT

GMCMI is the only organization that I know of that:
- holds hostage, *OUR* GMC technical information
- FOREVER (not just a year)
- I cannot point to (a url) for a reference in GMCMI
- I only point to information (I don't write it)

If I point to an article on Power Master Brakes (1990)
by MARVIN PECK - GMC CLASSIC
( a wonderful collection of documentation with manuals, part numbers,
hints, problems , etc)

this is what you will get
http://www.gmcmi.com/mem-bers/TechHandouts
/Powermaster.pdf

and
7,000 GMCers, cannot read it
this excellent information has been
*--"held hostage for 22 years"*--
--------------------------------

Now GMCES has an excellent model where technical information is held
"Member only" for one year, and then it is released.
http://www.gmceast.com/technical/

Nice Job Byron, and a good precedent for all of our membership
organizations.

with hope for change
